This idea has stood out very strongly in the course of my life, because it seems to indicate a special necessary depth which is possible in human relationships, as if some ultimacy is achieved enlivenment when two human beings share their inner lives. Then when my burns had finally healed, I wanted to go to the beach, but when I got there there was this huge thunderstorm and I had to go home again. Most planets have rain.

A well-meaning coworker mentioned that she had been talking to another housekeeper about me. I remember the rest of that day.
