Crimson Peak: The Official Movie Novelization by Nancy Holder
Ill start by saying that I loved the movie. Im a big fan of both Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska. Not to mention Im a huge fan of horror movies, so mix the three together, and I am most pleased.
This was my first movie novelization and I liked it a lot. There are many nuances that are missed with a movie. The book brings more depth to the characters, their feelings and their growth.
Also, we get to see inside the past of Thomas and Lucille Sharpe. We find out what their parents had been like. Although Lucille has no excuse at the end of the day, we learn what turned her insane and made her the despicable person she is.
So, if you liked the movie, you should definitely give the novelization a try. And if you read the book first, go check out the movie. The special effects are simply amazing!
Crimson Peak - Movie Review
Crimson Peak , Guillermo del Toro's most recent masterpiece, is finally in theaters, and it's leaving a line of haunted audiences and thrilled Hiddlestoners in its wake. Unless you've been on some kind of television fast and why the hell would you do that? The trailers for the film promise scary ghosts, elaborate sets, and a Tom Hiddleston sex scene, but if you're still left wondering what the Crimson Peak plot is actually about , we've got you covered. Away from everything she knows, Edith, who has seen ghosts since childhood, begins to witness the ghouls creeping along the old Sharpe house, and quickly realizes that they aren't trying to scare her, but warn her.

Crimson Peak - Official Theatrical Trailer [HD]
In the introduction to "Frankenstein," Mary Shelley described the genesis of her classic story. During an evening with her husband Percy Shelley, Lord Byron, and another guest, they got the idea to entertain one another by writing ghost stories. Mary Shelley couldn't come up with anything and went to bed, still thinking, and then became possessed by an image of a man lying on a table and slowly coming to life. Shelley recalled that she bolted awake, thinking, "I have found it! Director Guillermo del Toro has a similar belief that the images crowding his brain can come to life.
Upon first look, it seems obvious that the title of the new film Crimson Peak is a reference to the haunted mansion that appears to be the center of the movie. Crimson Peak , after all, tells the story of a young woman, Edith Mia Wasikowska , who marries a mysterious stranger, Thomas Sharpe Tom Hiddleston , and finds herself whisked away to Thomas' old family home, the Sharpe mansion, where they live with his cold sister, Lucille Jessica Chastain. There, Edith finds that her new home is not as inviting or innocent as it may appear; in fact, it seems rather apparent that the house is haunted by ghosts. Given that fact, it seems like a safe assumption that the title of "Crimson Peak" means a reference to the Sharpe family home. But, a quick shot in one of the film's trailers establishes the Sharpe mansion as being called Allerdale Hall.
